My application process went better than I had predicted. I wrote a time plan of each stage for my makeup and followed this to stay on track. My bald cap fitted my model but it was slightly too large around the nape. This was not a problem as I only wanted to shoot the images from the front view. Therefore, I focused on making the front part of the bald cap as neat and as blendable as possible. After the bald cap I applied my half face prosthetic, this adhered well to my models face. The only small problem I had was attaching the nose; I feel I may have placed it slightly too low which made it harder for anything to adhere to. I tried re-applying prosade to help it stick but it was not working. It was not an obvious fault and this can be corrected in photo shop. I used grease paints to blend my models face in with his head, I feel like I may have used a colour slightly too pale for my model, but it did look effective as a whole. For the prosthetic, I coloured with illustrator. I made sure to dilute this with plenty of alcohol so that it looked more realistic. I tried to colour the shadows with blues and purples, this is to represent the weight of depression someone carries with bipolar disorder, and so I wanted to use cooler colours for this piece. Overall, I was very pleased with my makeup. Despite there being a few edges (which I tried to mask with cobosil) I was happy with the level of realism my piece had considering this is my first attempt. I was particularly pleased how the punched eyebrow turned out. The only issue about my image is: the message it sends. I hope this piece could be a powerful image and potentially used in an advert/awareness for psychological disorders. I feel this message is not overly obvious initially.
