Designing Process
Bipolar-the representation of two personalities
I really loved this design, however, I feel with the time frame I have I would be very unrealistic to create this and to finish it. I wanted to create a 360 degree head of faces each representing different emotions portrayed by the disorder bipolar. For this I would have to create a full head cast, and sculpt the faces and mould them all. I feel this is too advanced for the stage I am at right now, but I would like to create something like this in the near future.
For this design I wanted to create the look of half the face representing the depressive side to the personality of someone living with bipolar. The idea is how the depressive side weighs down the normal state and prevents that individual from living an ordinary life. I wanted to portray the face to look as though it has weight to it, how the depressive side feels heavy, bringing the personality down into a deep place, as seen by during my research. I have designed this with a bald cap in mind, as I wanted the image to be all about the face and emotion, I wanted the image to be an awareness theme to represent the extremes of someone living with the disorder. After figuring out how I would create this I have decided it would be best to create as one mould apposed to several small moulds. It is much more feasible than being done in 2 or 3. For this design I would punch hair for the eyebrow, and use illustrator to obtain transparent colours to create a more realisitic appearance of skin.
