I decided to sculpt a pectoral muscle as this part of the body is popular for a man to gain size in. I used reference images to sculpt my piece and experimented with texturing it.
As this was a flat piece, I had to measure the size of my models pec muscle so that it would fit correctly. I started forming the basic shape just by rolling up clay, warming it up in my hads so that it was easier to work with, and trying to create the correct shape for the pec.
Texture was added with sculpting tools and thick plastic which helped to soften the muscle fibre lines that was being formed.
I often find with my prosthetic pieces that my edges are not blendable enough, therefore, I tried to blend out the clay edges as evenly as possible to perfect the technique.
Flashing has been created by using a clay extruder which enables a neat and even finish
A clay wall has been built all around, a sharp knife is used to neaten up the mould as much as possible to eliminate any untidy finishes. Lighter fluid has also been used to clean up the mould
Once the flat piece was ready, I used a small amount of mould release in the white areas of the mould. I measured out equal parts of A&B, mixed and poured from a distance onto my mould to stretch the silicone this reduces the chance of any air bubbles. Once the silicone had cured I cleaned it up with alcohol ready to be filled with silicone.

Silicone painted with inks
Gelatin Coloured With acrylics
Two very different outcomes for filling my mould. My top photograph shows the mould filled with gelatin that has been mixed with acrylic paint. The paint gathered into bits which looked like bloody vessel, this experiment worked really well.
Below I painted the silicone piece with inks which has also turned out to look very effective. I went a little dark in the corners but the red fleshy part looks very realistic.
