Anorexia/Extreme thiness

Anorexia nervosa is a serious mental health condition. It is an eating disorder in which people keep their body weight as low as possible.
People with anorexia usually do this by restricting the amount of food they eat, making themselves vomit and exercising excessively
Representation of thin women in the media
America's Next Top Model is a perfect example of thin women being represented in the media. Here are two models from the show, They both have particularly small frames, they're both very tall and lean and their bone structure is very prominent.
Here Aimee is presented negatively for her low weight, Tyra states she is too thin and that it does infact send out the wrong message to an audience of young women.

The bones are very visible in both models, they have very high cheek bones, long legs and slender figures.
Aimee's image could still be encouraging eating disorders amongst young women because of her thinness. The images can be very controversial towards the audience, in terms of makeup ideas sculpting structured bone shapes could represent these extreme ideals of thinness in an exaggerated manner. The models are very much more about angles as their body fat is unusually low.

As I started to consider the shapes of the body created by extreme dieting I came across this prosthetic makeup which shows a lot of angles in the face. The makeup is perfectly executed and blended, the edges are seemless and the colouring of the prosthetics add to the shadowing of the makeup I therefore felt I could use it as an inspiration for one of m,y pieces. This could be used on a model to exaggerate the angular bone structure models have, and to represent, in some cases the huge amount weight loss models undergo in order to perfect their image for their careers.

Images from an article I found discussing the weight of models and whether their weight should be regulated. The argument being-the models are too skinny and look malnoruised. This led me to have a look into malnourishment, and the physical effects, are these models starving their bodies to the point of damaging their health?

Examples of extreme malnourishment/anorexia
Physical effects-The bones are very prominent, the skin looks dry and leathered, you can see outlines of veins, her teeth and eyes look sunken and generally very frail looking

I found Nana's case of anorexia extremely disturbing because of how visual her bones are and how ill she really looks. She looks exceptionally tanned in her photos with anorexia, which indicates to me she has developed an obsession with her weight and also her tan. The tan makes her look healthier than the anorexic above, but makes her look more odd as she is so orange and unnatural.
